here’s pencil sketch for a poster I’m designing for commission. It’s gonna be one of those old-timey face-off wrestling posters.

When somebodies post of your artwork gets more hits than anything you’ve ever posted… except I can’t even be mad because she/he credited like a boss and showed so much love. Thanks miss(ter) dirge.

My contribution in full to the #bartkira project. This was tons of fun to do.

Cameron is the first to finish and send me his Bartkira submission, and he has set the bar preeeeetty high holy shit

Cameron Stewart is just killing it on these pages - I can’t get over it!

Here are finished pieces. I will get some hi-res scans as soon as I am able to get to a scanner. :D

Here are some process photos of how I paint, which is: sloppily. Generally the process is a balance between: light to dark, warm to cool, background to foreground - but I’m so impatient that I jump around way too much. But I feel like painting like this is some of the only time I get to relax and be blissful in my work.

Mike Mignola tutorial, c.1997. I remember liking this so much I pasted the pages straight into my sketchbook

I can think of five or six professional cartoonists whose entire portfolio was cribbed from this one tutorial.
Beautiful stuff, tho, the bit on texture alone is invaluable.

A couple people asked me how I vary my leaves and trees and honestly, it’s super easy! I’ve never made a tutorial/guide before so I kept this mega simple but I hope someone out there might find it useful at least!

Also, anyone can download the brushes I use for all my art on my tumblr page (: I only use around 5 so go nuts haha

Wow! Reblogging this for reference. I gotta start drawing more backgrounds.
